Christina Aguilera initially thought Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's romance was a joke.
The three singers have become good friends as they are all judges on the US version of TV show The Voice. Last week (end06Nov15) Gwen's representative confirmed she is dating country star Blake, bringing an end to weeks of speculation about their relationship. Christina has now given her view on the romance, laughing that initially she couldn't believe it.
"You know, I didn't (suspect it)," she told Access Hollywood. "I think there was starting to be rumours about it, and I was like, (laughs) 'Yeah, right, Blake!' It was just funny. We were just palling around, joking around. And then it became real."
Christina isn't the only one who didn't take the rumours seriously - Blake's fellow country star Luke Bryan insisted there was no way he could "score a girl" like Gwen when told the news at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards earlier in November (15).
Now she's had time to process it, Christina couldn't be happier for her co-stars, which she made clear to Gwen when she saw her recently.
"I just saw them yesterday, actually, and I got the chance to tell (Gwen) in person … 'You get that cowboy, girl!'" she laughed.
In 2010 the Dirrty singer went through a divorce with her ex-husband Jordan Bratman, and given that both Blake and Gwen has split from their respective spouses, Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale, this year (15) she is pleased they have found love again.
"Knowing them for so long and having gone through my own divorce, it's rough no matter how you want to twist it," she said. "And then, under a media microscope, that just sucks. I feel for them, in both of their separate situations.
"Happiness deserves happiness. They're good people. I just know that divorce is tough and so they deserve some laughs and happiness and if it's (with) each other, then they deserve each other."
