The 32-year-old producer – real name Terius Nash – claimed his marriage was "irretrievably broken" in the papers, which were filed on February 17. 
The 'Dip It Low' singer gave birth to daughter Violet just over a week later on February 26. 
Earlier this month, The-Dream claimed he felt suicidal in the wake of his split from the singer after just five months of marriage. 
He blogged: "I've cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I've tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.
"This is not to justify anything, it's true emotion! It's a real thing that involves real people!"
Christina and The-Dream married in the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, just a week before announcing she was pregnant with their first child together. 
He recently confessed to having spent little time with Violet since her birth – because Christina was protective of their daughter.
He said: "Christina's very attached. She doesn't let anybody near that baby. Not even me sometimes!"
