The state of Illinois is in a stink over alleged Dave Matthews Band stink.
The state is suing the band for allegedly dumping up to 800 pounds of liquid human waste from a bus into the Chicago River and dousing a tour boat full of passengers. The suit seeks 70-thousand dollars in civil penalties.
The suit says on August 8th, a bus leased by the band was crossing a bridge and the driver allegedly emptied the contents of the septic tank through a metal grating into the river below. More than 100 people on an architecture tour were showered with waste. No one was seriously injured. Band spokesman John Vlautin says the driver has stated he was not involved in the incident and the band will continue to cooperate in the investigation.
