The 41-year-old No Doubt singer said that in the 1980s all her favourite bands were from across the pond and that she thought their music was 'the coolest thing ever'.
'It's really weird becoming a part of British culture, because I was always such a fan,' she told the UK edition of Elle.
'When I discovered music it was all about the UK... Madness, The Specials, UB40, Depeche Mode, The Cure and all of that 1980s music I worship.
'The music they wrote was so English, it was about their world. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
'When you grow up in Orange County, you never think you'll go there. The fact that I ended up with this English guy is really weird.'
