Gwyneth Paltrow: 'Chris Martin's like my brother'

Gwyneth Paltrow views her estranged husband Chris Martin as a brother, and she still regularly stays over at his house.

The stars confirmed their marriage was over in March 2014, using the now-infamous phrase 'conscious uncoupling' to announce their split. They've managed to remain on good terms for the sake of their children Apple, 11, and nine-year-old Moses and Gwyneth doesn't see that ever changing.

"We spend a lot of time together," she told Glamour magazine. "He's been away for two weeks (promoting his album). Last night he got in at midnight and slept here so he could surprise the kids in the morning, we could all have breakfast, and he could take them to school."

"So... we're not living together, but he's more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants. And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids. We're still very much a family, even though we don't have a romantic relationship. He's like my brother."

Gwyneth has moved on from her marriage and is now dating TV producer Brad Falchuk. She has dismissed marriage speculation though, insisting it's far to early to discuss that as she isn't even divorced yet.

Instead she is focusing on her children, who are remarkably well adapted to having famous parents. So much so the 43-year-old star fully expects them to follow in their parents footsteps when it becomes time to start careers.

"Right now (knocks on table) they're in a really good space," she said. "They're smart, they're funny, they have pretty good heads on their shoulders. We'll see what difficulties come with adolescence and what careers they want. Unfortunately, I think they're both gonna be drawn to perform. They're naturals – they sing, act, play guitar, do stand-up – it's brimming out of them.

So I feel like my mother (actress Blythe Danner). Whenever I said I wanted to be an actress, she said, 'Oh no, don't. You're too smart to be an actress. Do something else!'"
