Gwyneth Paltrow is educating her kids about music.
The actress took to the stage to announce her good friend Beyoncé Knowles' performance during Sunday's Grammy Awards alongside host LL Cool J, and she used the opportunity to explain a few simple differences to her inquisitive children.
Accompanied to the prestigious awards show by daughter Apple, ten, and son Moses, eight, the doting mum patiently fielded their questions though without much luck, an insider told Us Weekly.
"It was really funny. She was backstage with them and was trying to explain the difference between a 'record' and an 'album'," the source revealed. "Then she had to start over and try to explain what a record was [like a vinyl record]."
Considering the children have grown up in the age of iPods and, to a lesser extent, CDs, it's little wonder they didn't know the difference. But Gwyneth, who has dabbled in music on numerous occasions, was apparently none too successful at shedding light on the situation. Apparently the kids seemed "super confused".
Of course, with their father none other than Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Apple and Moses aren't short of musical influences in their lives.
They can also count music's power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z as family friends, with the pair reportedly deciding to move from New York to Los Angeles after Gwyneth sang the praises of raising her own children on the West Coast.
According to reports, the children stayed until the end of Sunday's ceremony in order to watch Bey belt out a roaring rendition of Take My Hand, Precious Lord, before making a low-key exit out a back door with their mum.
Chris was also present at the show, taking to the stage with the night's big winner, Beck, for Heart is a Drum.
