Soul II Soul star Jazzie B says James Brown treated him like a "little brother".
The DJ, producer and singer worked with James - known as the 'Godfather of Soul' - on one of his albums as well as touring with him, and reveals the star really took him under his wing.
Jazzie told BANG Showbiz: "James Brown treated me almost like a younger brother or whatever, he was amazing. We got on really well, he took me on tour and he was a brilliant geezer, he called me every Christmas to make sure I was alright."
While James was not a huge fan of Jazzie's trademark 'Funki Dred' way of dressing -describing him as "too raggedy" - he gave him lots of advice, which he still uses in his live performances to this day.
He added: "James Brown - or Mr. Brown, as her liked to be called - was the hardest working man in showbiz. He advised me on so many things - everything from my dress sense to loads of things in the business.
"And we've only I probably only took the live thing seriously over the last seven or eight years, I don't' know why that is, but I have definitely taken a leaf out of his book in regards how I approach things."
