JAMES BROWN's former publicist is suing his estate to demand control of a charitable trust.
In a lawsuit filed this month in Chicago, Jacque Hollander claims that not only should she be in charge of the trust because she helped establish it, but she alleges that she
is the only surviving partner.
The late singer's assets have been in limbo since he died on Christmas Day 2006, even though his will stated they were due to be divided up between his trust fund, to benefit his grandchildren, and six of his adult children.
But some of his children, and Tomi Rae Hynie, his widow and the mother of his young son, doubted the legitimacy of the document.
The parties fought the will in the courts, but during the legal proceedings, it was revealed that Brown had numerous unpaid debts, and the trustees of his estate were left facing allegations of inadequate accounting and claims of misappropriated money.
A settlement on how to fairly distribute the estate is pending.
