The American comedienne is well known for outspoken opinions, and loves nothing better than blasting other stars in public. She has turned her attention to Mel and Russell, explaining they irritate her because they take themselves too seriously.
“It's a toss up between Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe,” she told the British edition of OK! Magazine when asked who the rudest celebrity she’s met is. “Russell thinks he’s God. You want to say ‘You’re a chubby man who’s losing your hair.’”
The 77-year-old added she hates injustice in the world, and thinks everyone should be treated the same regardless of what they get paid. She admires people who make something of themselves from nothing and believes everyone deserves respect.
“They’re never rude to people at the top but to the bellman and the make-up girl” she said. “And these people have too much money. When they say like ‘I own Malibu’ you’re like ‘Calm down.’”
However, Joan does have time for some celebrities. She was delighted by Leonardo DiCaprio when they were introduced, explaining he was more than just a handsome face.
“I met Leonardo DiCaprio and you always think he’s going to be a dashing man but he has this great sense of humour. I adored him,” she confessed.
The Australian actress Nicole Kidman has also managed to escape Joan’s wrath.
She got marks for joviality and sense of fun, with Joan adding: “Nicole Kidman I thought would be, ‘Look how gorgeous I look in this beautiful dress,’ but I sat next to her at a party and we were laughing about everything. It’s bizarre, she’s not the serious, standoffish person I expected.”
