The Strokes' frontman turned solo star Julian Casablancas has announced the release of debut album with side-project, The Voidz - and it can be yours for just £2.27.
Tyranny will be released on 23 September through Casablancas' own Cult Records, with a digital pre-order price of just $3.87 (that's £2.27) in protest against the 'tyranny' of the mainstream music industry.
"Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history," says Casablancas in a statement. "Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body. Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter)."
The album was written and recorded over the past year by Casablancas with Voidz band members Jeramy Gritter and Amir Yaghmai (Salt & Pepper) on guitar, Jeff Kite on keyboards, Jake Bercovici on bass and Alex Carapetis on drums.
A statement says: "The album incorporates world underground music from the 70s and 80s, hardcore/punk and modern harmony, using modern and analog recording and sampling techniques."
