A Justin Bieber performance was cancelled in Sydney this morning after the mainly teenage girl audience got out of control and eight children were crushed.
Bieber, the 16-year-old kid of the moment, was to perform his only Australian show at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay in Sydney.
Around 3,500 kids surrounded the terminal by 3am for the dawn performance and eight were taken to hospital when the crowd went out of control early in the morning when they thought the Canadian teen idol had arrived at the terminal.
Police have blamed lack of parental supervision for the cause of the riot and are questioning how parents could have allowed their children to go to an event so early in the morning unsupervised.
Bieber was to sing three songs for the fans. Instead, he sang one song during a television interview instead.
