Justin Bieber Turns Humanitarian for 'Pray' Video

He may have his own nail polish line and fragrance on the horizon, but Justin Bieber wants to show that there's more to him than the superficial side of life. Bieber highlights social injustices around the world in his new video for "Pray," attempting to spread a more optimistic view on some of today's most heart wrenching tragedies.

The video features footage from an earthquake-torn Haiti and a still suffering post-Katrina New Orleans, with clips of the teen star visiting sick children in their hospital beds. There are also scenes of military soldiers being reunited with their families after a tour of duty and homes being possessed because families can't pay their mortgage. All of these sobering images are spliced with clips of Bieber performing backstage or for a crowd of thousands, as he soars above adoring fans in a giant metal heart.

The religious undertones are significant and plenty in Bieber's attempt to inspire hope. Aside from the song's name, Bieber ends the video with the quote, "God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer." The spiritual under current has also sparked a bit of debate with one of the songs' lyrics, "I pray for the life not started," which may be a veiled statement of pro-life beliefs.
