Justin Bieber is opening up about his celebrity status in a new interview. The unstoppable teen star admits he can't actually define what it means to be famous, even though he just might be one of the biggest celebrities on the planet.
"What does that really mean, 'to be famous'?" he asked in a talk with Vibe magazine. "In general, fame can tear you apart, so you can never really feel like you're famous. When people start acting like they're famous, that's when they start losing it."
While he may not be able to put his finger on fame, he certainly is famous. And his success recently helped place him right behind fellow pop superstars Taylor Swift and Rihanna on the Forbes list of highest-paid stars under 30. But Bieber pretty much shrugged off his spot on the list when the magazine asked him about it. "Oh, that's cool. I wasn't like, 'Oh, that's awesome!' I could really care less," he said.
What he does take seriously, though, is his privacy, refusing to give up any specifics about his personal life, not even how many cars he owns.
"I don't like giving too much personal information about where I live and the cars I drive. ... There are a lot of people in this world that aren't good people, and all they need to do is a little research and then they can," he explained. "People hiding in garbage cans overnight to catch [pictures] of me; crazy things happen. You can't give out too much personal information."
While Justin has remained relatively low-key this summer, after dropping his Believe album in June, he's currently in rehearsals for a massive world tour kicking off in September. Between dance practices, Bieber also released an epic video for "As Long As You Love Me," which happened to feature a rough-and-tumble Michael Madsen as his adversary.
