Katherine Jenkins is pregnant with her first child.
The Welsh opera singer confirmed that she is expecting a little girl with her husband Andrew Levitas on Monday. The couple married in a romantic ceremony at Hampton Court Palace, England, in September last year and Katherine used an image of their special day to help her share the news with fans.
"Couldn't be more excited to meet our little girl! #MummyToBe #DaddyToBe #ArtProject #Collaboration #Family @andrewlevitas (sic)" she captioned the shot on Instagram, which featured a framed photo of the couple in their wedding attire with a pair of pink baby booties on the top.
The 34-year-old began dating the American artist and film director in February last year before Andrew proposed two months later. And after sharing the news of their impending arrival on social media, the couple issued a statement elaborating on their delight.
"We are overjoyed to be expecting our first child in the autumn," they told Mail Online. "Starting a family and moving into this exciting phase of our lives is a blessing for which we are incredibly grateful. We eagerly await the arrival of our little girl!"
The news follows Katherine admitting that she was ready to become a mother soon after tying the knot.
"Now I'm married I do want kids. I do really want a family," she told British newspaper The Sunday People in November. "Please God, touch wood, we'll be lucky and they'll be fit and healthy. That's all I care about. Having kids is on the list of priorities. We'll see what happens."
