Katy Perry is pumped about her nine MTV Video Music Award nominations.
"OMG! I just got word that I'm nominated for 9 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS!!! I'm kinda speechless/nervous/turned on! NOW it's up to YOU to VOTE!" she Tweeted shortly after the news was announced Wednesday night.

"I can't sleep...I'm so excited... It feels like every birthday/christmas/first kiss I ever had. Thanks so much for believing in me. I owe u," she added to her more than eight million fans.
She lamented that she wasn't competing against a few artists in the video of the year category: "I do miss my RiRi, (s&m) Swifty, (back to dec) Kesha (blow) & Robyn (every vid!) Jessie J, (pricetag) in the/any categories #ohmanitstough," she wrote.

Video of the year nominees include Adele ("Rolling in the Deep"), Tyler, The Creator ("Yonkers"), Bruno Mars ("Grenade"), Beastie Boys ("Make Some Noise") and Perry's "Firework."
Kanye West and Adele each received seven nominations.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 28.
