Kings of Leon have advised One Direction not to turn into a rock band.
Brothers Caleb and Nathan Followill formed the alternative group with their other sibling Jared and cousin Matthew.
They've had a plethora of hits, such as Sex on Fire, and while heavier music works for them, they urge the UK pop band to stick to what they know best.
"Don't try to turn into a rock band or anything. You are already there and have your music and your fans, so don't try change what you are," Caleb told British newspaper The Sun when asked what words of wisdom he had for One Direction.
Young singers Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are known for their good looks as well as their fun songs.
With Justin Bieber recently featuring in a video taken by a fan who claims to have enjoyed a night with him, Nathan advises One Direction to be more careful.
"If you're going to have a party in a hotel room, have a box at the door and take the girls' phones — that's what gets kids into trouble these days," he laughed. "Every phone is a camera."
Harry, 19, is seen as the heartthrob of the group and has in the past been linked to beauties such as Cara Delevingne and Taylor Swift.
He has a huge Twitter audience, which worked in Nathan's favour when the teenage lothario started following him on the social networking site.
"I honestly think I got an extra 20,000 followers when that kid followed me — teenage girls asking me to set them up with him," the star laughed.
Kings of Leon have a hectic schedule, with the band playing a charity concert in the UK earlier this week before jetting off to Australia.
Caleb is married to Victoria's Secret model Lily Aldridge and they have baby girl Dixie at home, which means he's not pleased with the way his itinerary has worked out.
"It's the dumbest routing I've ever heard of, but what can you do? I'm missing my wife's birthday," he sighed, jokingly adding: "We make our wives stay home and work so they don't always come on the road with us — the house always needs cleaning."
