Kings Of Leon bassist Jared Followill has said “family has to come first” after the group cancelled the remainder of the US tour because singer Caleb Followill is suffering from voice problems and exhaustion.
The band announced that they were pulling the plug on the tour last night (August 1) – just days after the singer walked off stage at a gig in Dallas and didn't return.
In a message on Twitter, Jared said he felt “utterly depressed” and that the decision was “completely out of my hands”.
“Family has to come 1st. If bass solos & backing vocals were more popular, I'd be there,” he added.
The bassist also posted a video of himself punching a punch bag in the gym, and wrote the message: “They told me the news about the tour in the gym today. This is how I felt.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Kings Of Leon cancelled a total of 28 dates, including the recently rescheduled Dallas gig and another in Houston.
A statement said: "We are so sorry to say Kings of Leon are canceling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion.
"The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break."
It added that the dates could not be rescheduled because of Kings Of Leon’s upcoming international schedule.
The tour will now resume in Canada at Rogers Center in Vancouver on September 28 - a date originally scheduled for September 14.
