Oxfam are delighted to announce the launch party for Oxjam Brixton Takeover on August 18th, with a killer lined up of DJs including the Grammy-winning pop star Elly Jackson AKA La Roux, Maxi Jazz of chart-topping stadium dance act Faithless, plus the return of influential turntablist/producer Patrick Carpenter, best-known as PC from DJ Food, and one of The Cinematic Orchestra.
The launch party takes place on the terrace and roof of the newly-refurbished Lambeth (formerly DEX), so what better way to support a good cause than to party in the vibrant Brixton sunshine, with a soundtrack provided by both international stars and cult underground figures alike?
The Oxjam Brixton takeover is a multi-venue event in Brixton (focussing on talent with strong links to the area), that takes place on October 19th. More information on the participating venues and performers will be announced over the coming weeks.
Expect some of Brixton's best clubs, bars and pubs to be on board, playing host to well-known and much-loved bands/artists/DJ, a wealth of up-and-coming talent, plus food, drink and other festival-related jollity.
With one album under her belt and a highly-anticipated follow-up in the pipeline, Elly Jackson AKA La Roux has achieved huge commercial success and critical acclaim worldwide. The single 'Bulletproof' was a UK number one smash, that also reached nubmer 8 in the States, whilst 'In for the Kill' was another UK hit – reaching number 2.
