On 5th March 2015, following the release of the acclaimed album 'Sing To The Moon' re-recorded with The Metropole Orkest, cinemas across UK, Europe, Latin America and North America will screen Laura Mvula's recent live performance of the album at The Paradiso in Amsterdam with the 52 piece Dutch orchestra and the Concensus Vocalis choir.
Led by conductor Jules Buckley, the sell-out show was filmed by Music-Screen, a production company which specialises in capturing live performance and delivering to global cinema screens via Hi-def picture and 5.1 surround sound presenting a 'live' experience.
Laura commented, "Performing with the Metropole Orkest at the Paradiso was incredible and I'm happy to be able to give you the chance to experience it in your local cinema."
The screening of the film to local cinemas in UK, Europe, Latin America and North America on 5 March 2015 will be made all the more unique as audiences will see Laura introducing the film beforehand - live from London - and afterwards performing a selection of songs on piano.
2014 was an astonishing year for Laura seeing her nominated for two BRIT Awards(British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act), short-listed for the Mercury prize and receiving a nomination for the Album Award at the recent Ivor Novello Awards. Laura received an outstanding 5 star review for her breathtaking performance with The Metropole Orkest at the legendary Royal Albert Hall last year.
Recorded at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios, the new recording of Laura's Top Ten debut album, 'Sing To The Moon' was released in August 2014 and contains new arrangements of all twelve tracks on the original version.
The singer-songwriter's music fuses orchestral soul, poetic lyrics and thrilling harmonies. Her voice, layered with velvety lushness, is a one-woman symphony - a match made in heaven for the power and talent of the 52 strong, 16 Grammy nominated Metropole Orkest. These new arrangements send Laura's ambitious and stunning debut to new heights, paying tribute to her classical training.
Since announcing the release of her debut EP back in November 2012, Laura has been picking up critical acclaim and support from some of the biggest tastemakers out there. Laura's unique sound has entranced critics, leading to her debut album being hailed as "One of the most strik- ing and original debuts from any British artist in many a year." by the Telegraph.
