Lindsay Lohan could play Superman villain

The troubled actress was edged out of what could have been a major comeback role by Doubt star Amy Adams. But according to Radaronline.com, the 24-year-old Mean Girls actress is due to read in front of producers for another role in the much-anticipated movie.

A source told the gossip website: 'Lindsay plans to return from New York and meet with producers and read with an actor who is up for the role of Lex Luther.”

The website states that film bosses are said to be “very interested” in casting Lohan.

'Lindsay said she would be ecstatic to be part of the Superman movie - it's definitely a dream of hers,' close pal Nathan Folks told RadarOnline.com.

However, it’s feared Lindsay’s current legal woes could prevent her from filming the movie, which begins shooting in Vancouver in August. She is expected to go to trial over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a Los Angeles jewellery store.

'If Lindsay is found guilty of grand theft, she would inevitably be serving jail time, which almost certainly would coincide with the production schedule,' a source added.
