The 24-year-old actress is currently receiving treatment at the Betty Ford Center in California, where she checked in after failing two court-ordered drug tests while on probation. She has been ordered by a judge to stay in the facility until January 3 2011.
Yesterday, Lindsay’s mother gave an interview to American programme The Today Show, in which she discussed the star’s progress. She revealed Lindsay is now staying “in a home”, and further details have been revealed about her new surroundings.
As Lindsay has completed the first month of treatment, known as the “priority phase”, she has been moved to a sober house near the main facility. According to website X17, she is having “residential day treatments”, and is allowed out to buy food go shopping or to the cinema.
“It's a buddy system and no patient is allowed to go out by themselves,” a source told the site.
Family are only allowed to visit for four hours on Sundays, and can’t meet up with patients when they are on excursions.
During her interview, Dina admitted she has amazed by how much the treatment has helped her daughter. Lindsay has been in rehab several times before, but it is only this stint which Dina says has really affected her.
Dina was also asked about her previous refusal to admit Lindsay has a problem with drugs. “That was for Lindsay to admit. As a mother it wasn't for me to come to tell the world... about her problem,” she said. “That was for her to do. I wasn't in denial.”
