Kate A., who was at the Century Regional Correctional Facility in Lynwood, California, at the same time as Lindsay for her 13-day jail stay, claims the 'Mean Girls' star was allowed special privileges other inmates were not.
She told RadarOnline.com: "Lindsay had a lot of special treatment while she was in jail.
"The entire jail was put on lockdown any time Lindsay left her cell. It felt like we were constantly on lockdown.
"She spent a lot of time in her cell, but she also went to the medical clinic several times a day."
Katie also claims one member of staff had to scour the prison for a specific book for her to read.
She said: "One employee of the jail had to spend his day searching the entire place for any books by Ernest Hemmingway for Lindsay. Those are the only books she would read."
The 24-year-old actress was initially sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation on a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) conviction, but only served 13 days due to overcrowding in the prison system.
She is currently in a court-ordered rehabilitation facility.
