Lindsay Lohan is back in the headlines again this week due to reports of her providing false information to police following a car crash and brief hospitalization last week.
According to TMZ, the problem-plagued actress lied to local authorities and claimed she was not driving the Porsche that crashed into a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway on Friday. Sources told the website that while Lohan was being treated for minor bumps and bruises at the hospital, she told officers from the Santa Monica Police Department that she was a passenger in the Porsche and her assistant was driving. That statement reportedly does not corroborate with the one Lohan's assistant gave to the police, which named Lohan as the driver at the time of the collision.
TMZ claims that the full-length police report will include Lohan's alleged fib, which might trigger a probation violation in her shoplifting case, which could mean potential jail time for Lohan if she did obstruct justice and provide false information to authorities. Several witnesses to the car accident told the website that after the crash, Lohan and her assistant both got out of the car on the passenger side.
In March, Lohan completed her probation related to two 2007 DUI cases, though she remains on unsupervised probation for her shoplifting incident until May 2014.
Lohan has been working steadily to get her professional career back on track with recent appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and "Glee." The 25-year-old is currently filming the TV biopic "Liz & Dick," in which she stars as film icon Elizabeth Taylor.
