A celebrity news blog claims a single count of felony grand theft will be filed against the actress tomorrow morning.
Lohan, who is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from an LA jewellery store, will then reportedly be arraigned in court in the afternoon. If convicted, she could face up to three years behind bars at California State Prison.
The 24-year-old actress is accused of taking a gold necklace from jewellery store Kamofie & Company last month.
The high-end boutique allegedly has CCTV footage that shows the former Mean Girls star wearing the chain in the store on 22 January.
And just days later, paparazzi photos showed Lohan – who is currently on probation and remains subject to random drug testing after her 3 January release from the Betty Ford clinic – allegedly wearing the same necklace.
Police obtained a warrant to search Lohan’s home on 1 February, but her stylist reportedly returned the necklace to the police before a search could be conducted.
Lohan, who only recently finished a stint in rehab following a drink-driving conviction, has reportedly claimed that the jewellery was loaned to her and says that she returned it to her stylist, who was responsible for returning it to the store.
The LA County District Attorney’s office said it did not yet have any information about a charge being filed against the film star.
