"What Your Boyfriend Said" marks the explosive return of Sheffield's beloved sons Little Man Tate. The new single is released through Yellow Van Records/Skint on the 2nd June 2008, and is taken from the forthcoming, as yet untitled, second album released in August 2008.
Little Man Tate first burst onto the scene in 2006 with a series of sweaty, sell-out gigs in their city's basement venues, which quickly caused a huge buzz across the nation. With the release of the quartet's acclaimed debut album, 'About What You Know' in January 2007, the band thought they knew it all. Spawning a top 20 hit ('Sexy In Latin'), enjoying heavy radio rotation, and accolades falling on them from every direction, Little Man Tate were justifiably playing to thousands across the UK and Europe.
Despite the success, the band were one of the first to suffer from the music industry's big cull. Dropped by their label of the time V2, Little Man Tate understandably felt cheated and angry, but it has been to their benefit. Album number 2 is the album the band always knew they could and would make, and without restraint. Bold, brassy and buoyant, Little Man Tate have returned stronger than ever, and without restriction.
The intensive recording sessions at Sheffield's Fly2 Studios took six months, interrupted only by their impressive 3500+ sell-out at Blackpool's Empress Ballroom at Christmas as a thank you to their loyal fanbase, and then to organise and headline a charity gig at The Plug in Sheffield to raise money for those that lost their homes in the Yorkshire flood.
