Mel B is "egotistical" inside her brain.
The star is used to sharing the spotlight, having performed alongside Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C in the Spice Girls for many years.
Now she's sitting on the panel of The X Factor UK, sandwiched between Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. While she might not be the only one offering advice to keen contestants, many have said she's their favourite star on the show.
"I don't think I am the favourite judge," she brushed off the comments to British magazine Star.
"In my own brain I'm probably that egotistical, but in the real world you can never tell if people like you or they don't. I present myself as me and that's all I can do."
Alongside her work on the show, Mel raises daughter Phoenix, who she has with her ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar, and Angel, who she has with Eddie Murphy. She also has Madison with her current husband Stephen Belafonte and is stepmother to his daughter Giselle.
The 39-year-old claims she has much better things to do than read comments about herself on Twitter, such as looking after her hubby and kids. In fact, family life means she's not quite as glamorous as some might think.
"I just fed my kids mac and cheese with a bit of chicken and sausage, then I came here, smelling of mac and cheese!" she laughed.
Former bandmate Victoria Beckham is also a busy mum, looking after sons Romeo, Brooklyn and Cruz and daughter Harper with her husband David. Romeo was recently announced the face of Burberry's Christmas adverts, with Mel commenting she thinks her children are "stunning" enough to do something similar.
