Back in the 90s Mel shot to fame in the iconic pop quintet alongside Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell.
The group had a string of international hits, and were adored by little girls across the globe who all tried to emulate their idols’ individual styles.
But is seems nowadays the group have lost their appeal, at least with Mel’s daughter Phoenix.
The 11-year-old originally told her mother she would be paying tribute to the Spice Girls with her friends this Halloween, before deciding the band just weren’t interesting enough to warrant a dedication.
"My daughter and her pals wanted to be Spice Girls for Halloween. I was so excited about helping with the costumes,” the star is quoted as saying. “Then one day she came in and said she didn't want to be a Spice Girl now as it was too boring. I was like, 'Oh thanks.' "
Mel didn’t reveal who Phoenix and her pals decided on eventually, although reports have claimed costumes emulating eccentric pop star Lady Gaga are selling fast this season.
