Mel B: Spice Girls feel old

Mel B has joked that the Spice Girls reunion made her feel "a bit old".

The British group came together yesterday to announce details about Viva Forever!, a West End musical production based on their hit songs.

The press conference took place at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London where the video for Wannabe was filmed 16 years ago. When the girls were quizzed on how they felt about returning to the hotel, Mel quipped that it had made them realise how much time has passed.

"I am always really excited," she told UK TV show Daybreak. "There is nothing like a bit of a reunion, I love it. No, it's not emotional we just feel a bit old."

Victoria Beckham insisted she had felt "emotional" seeing her bandmates again and was thrilled they had all managed to attend the event.

"I am really excited, I mean, it's emotional as well because we haven't all been together for a really long time," she explained. "When you have children everything does revolve around them. So to get us five together when we live on different sides of the world and we all have a lot of children, is a really big deal."

Geri Halliwell was overwhelmed by the reaction from the crowds. She is happy that so many people are still fans of the group – and insists they haven't changed too much.

"It is really flattering isn't it? That people are still interested in what we do. It is lovely," she gushed before explaining the plotline for the musical. "It's about strong women, it's about the relationship between mothers and daughters, and it's about fun. That is the one thing – if you look at all of us, we still have the craziness and fun."

Although the Spice Girls haven't been together in public since their 2008 world tour, Victoria wasted no time in returning to Los Angeles. Less than 24 hours after the reunion, the 38-year-old star was back with her family.

Victoria explained that she had made a hasty return to the US to put her 11-month-old daughter Harper to bed.
