A New Jersey man who killed his mother and then stabbed an 11-year-old boy to death claimed that he was influenced by a Metallica song about a boy who "lost my way this bloody day" when he committed the crime, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Ronald Pituch, 29, pleaded guilty two months ago to striking his mother, Josephine, in the head with a 20-pound barbell inside the Huntington Circle home they shared on Oct. 17, 2002, according to The Courier-Post.
He then left their home on his motorcycle and wandered into Kings Grant in neighboring Evesham, where he spotted 11-year-old Gregory Katsnelson riding his bike.
Pituch told the court during his sentencing Tuesday (Jan. 4) that he thought the Metallica song "Ronnie" had been directed at him. The song tells of a boy who "never laughed, never smiled, talked alone for miles and miles and miles."
