Overview
Kidman talked about the Queensland disaster on the red carpet at the Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles standing next to her husband and fellow Australian, country star Keith Urban.
“It’s the amazing, the spirit of people when something like this hits,” she said.
She said she and her husband had watched the disaster unfold on American news reports.
“Every day we followed it, and we were seeking it out,” she said.
Urban, who grew up in Caboolture, just north of Brisbane, said: “I had people texting me from all over the States saying, ‘Is your family OK?’ They are all alright, thank goodness. I was there for the 1974 floods and I remember them so vividly. It was surreal to see the same images again.”
