The 32-year-old former Pussycat Doll said that she is enjoying working with the Welsh ladies' man, and said that the pairing seems to be working.
She told Star magazine, 'He's really great. We have a good chemistry. I've never been a host before so it's nice to have someone with that experience.'
'It was Simon's [Cowell] choice [to put us together]. But the way I look at it, I have never really hosted before, so it's a new challenge for me.'
The singer, who is dating Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, said that Steve is shaping up to be an effective weapon against arguments between Simon and fellow judge Paula Abdul.
She explained, 'Simon and Paula Abdul were really going at it. Paula said, 'Is this your show?' Simon said, 'No, it's not'.
'So Paula said, 'Who's show is it?' Steve looked at me and said, 'It's The Nicole And Steve Show'. It broke the ice.'
