Nicole Scherzinger aims to be competitive in the "right" way.
The star is known for her fierce streak, having made a successful solo career for herself after finding fame with the Pussycat Dolls.
The Hawaiian beauty knows she is treading a fine line, but hopes to stay down to earth.
"Absolutely," she told the British edition of OK! Magazine, when asked if her success is down to her determined nature. "Competitive in the right way and not a destructive way, I hope. I'm most competitive with myself."
The singer acted as a judge and mentor on The X Factor UK last year and triumphed with her candidate.
Whereas she always aims to win, she tries not to be too tough on herself anymore.
"I am [a perfectionist]," she admitted. "Not as much as I used to be, but I'm pretty hardcore, that's for sure."
The 34-year-old star recently introduced new single Boomerang, which has gone down well with her fans.
Despite amassing a fortune thanks to her catchy tracks, Nicole still thinks twice before splashing out.
"I over-think everything, so I'll stare at the purse for a long time, walk away from it, stare at it more, leave the store then come back," she laughed.
