The 32-year-old Pussy Cat Dolls star told UK newspaper The Sun that the custom-made catsuit she wore for her performance was so tight she had to be stitched into it.
She said: 'It took a while to get on.
'The catsuit was actually built around my body. I had to get in it and then parts of it were sewn around me.'
She added: 'It was made especially for that performance. It needed to be special – just for the X Factor.'
Scherzinger also credited her boyfriend, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton – who was in the audience watching her perform on the show last weekend – for helping her to choose her current chart hit, Poison.
She said: 'Lewis was one of the first people to hear it and he loved it. Right away, he was like, 'This has to be your first single.''
