The 29-year-old socialite was handed a one-year suspended sentence, community service and a $2,000 fine after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine last month. Paris was relieved to avoid a jail sentence and has decided to turn over a new leaf and use her fame for positive purposes.
She has started her court-ordered community service by working at a rescue mission in Los Angeles and donating her time and money to a children’s charity. The star also plans to work at animal shelters in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Paris insists she is looking forward to helping those less fortunate than herself and has promised to turn her back on wild nights out.
"When you have been going out for so long, the [party] scene gets old, and I'm moving on with my life and on to bigger and better things," Paris told RadarOnline.com. "My community service is really important to me. This week I started and we went down and got a bunch of pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and carving tools and paint, candy and a piñata and did a lot of fun things for the kids.
"It's something I enjoy doing and it's important to give back."
Paris went on to discuss her relationship with nightclub manager Cy Waits, who she began dating in the summer.
Despite rumours that her family aren’t happy about the relationship, Paris’ mother Kathy recently revealed how much she likes her daughter’s new man, praising the way he treats Paris like a lady.
The blonde star has gushed she is happier than ever with Cy and she can’t bear to spend any time apart from him. Paris says she has complete trust in Cy and feels “blessed” to have found him.
"Cy is an amazing man... He is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life and he is my best friend, Paris enthused. "We are inseparable, we are always together.
"He is just so loyal and that is something that is so important to me in a relationship because you can be with someone and not trust them and just have a bad feeling, but with him I never have to worry.”
