Paul Weller says music has kept him young

Paul Weller believes music has kept him young.

The 51-year-old singer – who recently released his tenth solo studio album 'Wake Up the Nation' – claims he has never felt "trapped" by his age and has no intention of giving up his career yet.

He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I've done half a century, which is pretty fundamental really. I know I look different but I don't feel any different. It's a cliche but only because it's true... music does keep people young. I don't think you should be trapped by your age. You have to act how you feel.

"I never get embarrassed about whether I should still be playing music. I sometimes see people my age at gigs, and you can tell they really want to have it, but maybe they think it's not appropriate, or the wife said to take it easy. But this is rock and roll!"

The musician also claimed he feels very liberated nowadays because he has had so much musical success that he no longer feels the need to prove himself.

He said: "I'm not out to prove much more to anyone but myself really. It's quite liberating to get to a certain age, because you're not chasing number one hits or trying to be an international superstar. I've done all that."
