The Queen is designing!
Queen Latifah, who sings, acts, raps and models for Cover Girl cosmetics, is adding designer to her massive resume! Latifah will launch "The Queen Collection" this August via HSN and it will include clothing and accessories designed for every woman, ranging in sizes from 2 to 24.
Latifah told PEOPLE that "this is something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I've been offered a lot of deals for clothing lines and actually started one that didn't quite get off the ground but this is like a full circle moment for me."
The line is meant to be universal and flattering for women of all shapes and sizes that often can't find what they want at the local mall. Latifah, who was born Dana Owens, also said, "This is a young 14-year old, 17-year old and 22-year old Dana trying to go shopping and actually finding the things she wants to wear or going on HSN and ordering the clothes she likes because they're there and they are in her size. This has been a bit of a journey and it's a really exciting venture."
The quintuple threat Latifah created chic leather handbags for the collections and says they are her favorites. "I have a bag fetish," she said. "I'll have on sweatpants and a $3000 purse. I don't deny myself, bags are the one thing I'll allow myself to splurge on." Now you can enjoy and emulate her style at more than half the price.
"The Queen Collection," including outerwear, will be available on HSN and HSN.com beginning August 27th.
