Bruce Springsteen returned home on Saturday night to play the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Not just a surprise couple of songs, Springsteen brought along E-Streeters Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg, Asbury Juke Bobby Bandiera, J.T. Bowen from Clarence Clemons' Red Bank Rockers and a four piece horn section who performed a 25-song set.
The show was a private benefit for Boston College where Springsteen's son currently goes. The full set list can be seen at NJ.com.
Janet Jackson has postponed part of her Australian tour so that she can be with family during the Dr. Conrad Murray trial. She wrote on her website:
I want to thank my fans in Australia for their love, support and understanding. When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different. After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now. I'm looking forward to being with you for the Gold Coast, Sydney, and the Melbourne concerts. You are all so important to me. This saddens me in so many ways. I love you.
Look for Joe Walsh to be everywhere in 2012. In February, he will release a new solo album called Analog Man.
Later in the year, look for the Eagles to go on a tour to highlight their 40th anniversary along with a possible new album and tour from the James Gang.
The lineup has been announced for the 2011 Prince's Trust Rock Gala in London. The November 23 show will include Pete Townshend, Julian Lennon, Imelda May, Midge Ure, Ceyrs Matthews, Yolanda Brown, Kenney Jones, Mark King (Level 42), Tim Minchin and Charlie Siem. Look for additional artists to be announced in the near future.
The members of Metallica are reportedly going to self-finance a 3D film. They are working with producer Charlotte Huggins; however, there is no word on the type of movie other than it will be "Metallica-style."
The X concert film, The Unheard Music (1986), is being re-released on December 13 in a Special Edition package on both DVD and Blu-Ray. Extras include a new conversation with John Doe and Exena Cervenka, behind the scenes footage and an outtake of the song Some Other Time.
