The 'Shame' singer ' who married American actress Ayda Field in a low-key ceremony at their Los Angeles home in August ' hates socialising in public but insists he is happy because he is constantly entertaining at his house instead.
He said: ''m a happy hermit now. The house is always full ' we have guests who stay a couple of months.
'There's always something happening ' a quiz night or a poker night or just a party ' and four times a week I play football on my own pitch. I have a happy social life while staying in. It's totally comfortable.'
The 36-year-old star admits he initially moved out to Los Angeles because he received much less attention than in his native UK.
He explained to Style magazine: ' could get about there as an everyday citizen. People didn't know who I was, and if they did there was kind of a mystique about being an English pop star.
'You can play up to it, peacock about being European. I had the clothes for it, the haircut, the finances. It was fun, so I ended up staying.'
