Robbie Williams has said Gary Barlow will be a “full on” mentor on The X Factor.
The Take That stars have spent the last week working together with Barlow's X Factor hopefuls in Los Angeles.
In an interview with The Sun, Williams said he had been watching Barlow's progress on the show and expected his bandmate were give it his all.
He said: "I think it's brilliant. It is a new show again. It is fresh and the ratings have proved it. That's what it's all about — if the ratings are good, it's a happy place with happy people. And why not — ratings are what it is all about.
"As a mentor he is going to be full on. He's going to be closer than anyone has been in the past. I think that is what's needed.
"Previously judges maybe gave the acts half an hour if they were lucky. The ones that are going to make it need help, need a guiding arm put around them.”
Williams added: "In this Gary is competitive — because it is music. I think we will also see a change in his behaviour as he becomes more competitive as the show goes on."
The X Factor continues on ITV1 on Saturday (September 10).
