Robbie Williams, who celebrates 20 years in the music industry this year, has given his new single "Morning Sun" to Sport Relief as their official charity single for 2010. The song will be released on March 8, before Sport Relief weekend which falls between March 19 and March 21.
In conjunction with Virgin/EMI Records, all of the record company profits and artist royalties from digital single sales of the track in the UK will go to the charity, as will income from the writers and their publishers – Robbie Williams and Farrell Music, Danny Spencer, Kelvin Andrews and Chrysalis Music, Richard Scott , Scott Ralph and EMI Music Publishing, Don Black and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
Robbie said today: "I am very happy to donate my time to help Sport Relief and I thank my co writers for doing the same. Please join us in helping this very worthwhile cause".
Williams is involved with many charities including his own charity Give It Sum and also is Patron of the children's charity, The Donna Louise Trust. He is an ambassador for the global children's charity Unicef. This week he will also record a solo contribution to "Everybody Hurts", the Helping Haiti charity single.
Robbie will accept the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at this year's Brit awards.
