The 37-year-old singer is reportedly negotiating a solo deal with Universal, who also look after the band.
A source told the News of the World that Robbie never intended to stay with the group forever.
'Robbie has been very committed to this Take That project and can't wait to tour with the guys but he never said he wouldn't record his own music again,' said the insider.
'It's important for him to have his own solo deal because he is one of the most successful British recording artists.
'He has every major record company chasing him to sign a new solo contract. But there is no need to rush because he is fully committed to Take That until the end of this album campaign.'
