The New Year’s Eve actress, who has three kids with Matthew Broderick, said that she was more focused on work than on the fairy tale.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t want it. I just wasn’t one of those girls who dreamt of her wedding day and the birth of her first child,” she told The Telegraph.
“I assumed it was going to happen but I didn’t know when it was going to happen because I was focused on my work. I was just pootling along with my life. Then I met someone and it seemed to be right.”
But she insisted that it wasn’t a case of instantly knowing that Broderick was ‘the one’.
“I don’t know that I thought about that right away. I met this wonderful person and we wanted to be together,” she explained.
“And after a while it became apparent that I wanted to be with him longer than temporarily.”
