The former Sex And The City star, who has been married to Matthew Broderick for 20 years, said that after she ‘tried and tried and tried’ to get pregnant, they decided that ‘it just wasn’t meant to be in the conventional way’. Using her frozen eggs and his sperm, the couple instead welcomed the two-year-olds using another woman’s womb.
And while she admitted that meeting them for the first time was strange, the love was instant.
“You don’t know them as well immediately as you do a child you’ve given birth to,” she told The Telegraph. “But you do have an immediate love and affection for them and what is instinctual happens.”
The 46-year-old said she and Broderick were thrilled to get not one, but two siblings for their son James Wilkie, eight.
“We were just hopeful that we would have one healthy child. It was a wonderful shock getting two,” she said. “The cherry on the sundae.”
