Steven Tyler admits he was "crying like a baby" after learning daughter Liv went into labour.
The Aerosmith rocker is father to 37-year-old actress Liv, who welcomed a baby boy with her sports manager partner David Gardner on Wednesday.
And Steven released a touching statement on Facebook gushing over the experience of meeting his new grandson.
"When I got the call that Liv Tyler was going into labor, after crying like a baby myself, I immediately dropped everything and went to to the airport to get on the next available flight…(sic)," he wrote. "When I landed I kept calling my daughter Mia Tyler who was already helping Liv and she kept giving me minute by minute updates,'HURRY THE BABY IS COMING!'"
Fortunately Steven didn't miss out on the momentous family occasion.
"I made it RIGHT in time before my second grandson entered this world. It was another (God wink) moment of a lifetime for me," he shared.
Along with his Facebook post, Steven attached a picture of himself with Liv and her half-sister Mia. The trio are sporting huge, bright smiles on their faces as Liv rests in a hospital bed.
Mia is overjoyed with her nephew and feels privileged to have been around during his birth.
"There is nothing more special than helping to bring a life into this world with the most important people in your life," Mia wrote on her own Facebook page. "So proud to be a part of it. And so very excited to have a new pup in our wolf pack. So much love in this pic."
People magazine previously reported the baby made a surprise appearance as he wasn't expected to arrive for another six weeks.
However, all is well with mother and child.
"He's healthy and everyone is very happy," Liv's representative told People.
