Have you noticed a particular color burning up the shelves at your local record store lately? In the last couple of months, two of music's biggest hitmakers, Taylor Swift and Ne-Yo, have named their records after a common hue.
While Ne-Yo's album title, R.E.D., is an acronym for "Realizing Every Dream," it's still hard not to notice how alike it looks to Swift's album title, Red, which is indeed named for the color and its ties to the many emotions explored on her October album release.
So, had Ne-Yo and Swift consulted with one another before dropping their latest releases? "No, you know what? I can honestly say that even though I don't believe in accident or coincidence, it is completely coincidental that we keep winding up in the same places, even that our album titles are similar," he told last weekend during Jingle Ball in L.A., where Swift also happened to be performing. "It's completely coincidental, but like I said I don't believe in coincidence, so it's got to mean something."
MTV News predicts the Grammy nominations!
Whether they planned it or not, the two performers will reunite again in Nashville on Wednesday night (December 5) for "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!". (Swift is co-hosting with LL Cool J, while Ne-Yo has been tapped to perform.) Now might be a good time for them to chat about their favorite color. He added, "So maybe, at some point, me and Taylor need to sit down and figure out what this whole thing is about."
