Taylor Swift is eager to get to know professional Hawaiian surfer John John Florence better.

The 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer - who split from her last boyfriend Harry Styles in January after two months together - has reportedly stuck up a friendship with the 20-year-old blonde heartthrob and has been pursuing him via text.

A source close to the 23-year-old star told Life & Style magazine: 'He and Taylor have been text-messaging.'

John John was asked about his relationship with Taylor during a televised surfing event in Australia recently, and reportedly said: 'Uh, I'm not supposed to talk about that.'

An insider claimed that Taylor - who has previously dated a string of Hollywood stars including Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal - is extremely eager to keep the details of their new friendship quiet as they have yet to go on a date.

The source said: 'Apparently, she contacted him. I don't think they have hung out yet. They've just been chatting.

'John John doesn't want to ruin things, so he's being careful not to say too much.'

The Nashville-born star recently said she no longer has time for guys who are scared of commitment.

She said: 'There's really no sound quite as loud as a phone not ringing, a letter unanswered. I don't quite understand it, because I either want to be with you or I don't ... I really don't feel like pursuing something that isn't real or isn't going somewhere, so if it's established that someone's commitment-phobic, I'm sorry - go be commitment-phobic with someone else. Because I'm not trying to scare you, I'm not pointing a gun at you; I'm offering to be with you.'
