Singer Taylor Swift's seemingly perfect life is all an illusion because she knows it could all change overnight.
The star has been riding high in the charts ever since her self-titled debut album dropped in 2006, enjoying first a career in country songs before turning her attention to pop. Financial experts at Forbes recently commented that Taylor, 25, is on course to become a billionaire in the next five years, but the blonde star doesn't think people should read too much into all her good press.
"Oh, that is such an illusion," Taylor told Vogue Australia. "The public could change their minds about me tomorrow. If they decided that I was annoying tomorrow, they would use that angle and then a few other writers would use that and it would catch on."
She does concede that life is good though. As well as her global music career, Taylor is also loved up with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.
"Things are good right now but I'm never going to be stupid, foolish or ignorant enough to think I have control over the public," she smiled. "All I can control is making good music. I am so lucky that people seem to like me right now, but in no way, shape or form is it a permanent thing. And I think being aware of that is what keeps you smart and is what keeps you on the game,"
The Shake It Off singer is also known for her A-list circle of friends, with stars like Karlie Kloss, Hailee Steinfeld and Selena Gomez all part of her gang. Talking about her pals, Taylor explains how important these relationships are to her.
"My friendship group is one of my favourite things about my life right now. Our friends really have each others' back. It's the first time in my life that I've had anything strong like that in the friendship department," she confessed.
