Taylor Swift wants to believe in "pretty lies" and "magic".
The 22-year-old singer is known for penning heartfelt songs about love and relationships and is currently promoting her new album Red. Taylor has always had an active imagination and admits that being so openly emotional has led to heartache in the past.
"I want to believe in pretty lies. But unfortunately that can lead you to write songs like the ones on my new record," she explained to British newspaper The Guardian. "I think that one thing I'm really afraid of is… that magic doesn't last. That butterflies and daydreams and love, all these things that I hold so dear, are going to leave some day. I haven't had a relationship that's lasted for ever. I only know about them starting and ending. Those are my fears. I spend a lot of time balancing between faith and disbelief."
Taylor has previously had high-profile romances with stars such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and Joe Jonas. She is currently dating Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the pair are believed to be smitten.
Taylor and her friends enjoy discussing how having a boyfriend can influence their decisions and opinions.
"My girlfriends and I are plagued by the idea, looking back, that [some boys] changed us," she explained. "You look back and you think: I only wore black in that relationship. Or I started speaking differently. Or I started trying to act like a hipster. Or I cut off my friends and family because he wanted me to do that. It's an unfortunate problem."
