Taylor Swift always promises her boyfriends she won't write about them - then does it anyway.
The music megastar often pens lyrics about her ex-boyfriends, with rumours her track Dear John is about her failed romance with John Mayer. She can't help using her private life for inspiration.
"They never go into this like, 'I really want to ask you out - could you not write songs about us?'" Taylor admitted to ET Online. "They say that when we're breaking up and they're like, 'You better not write a song about this!' And I'm like, 'Oh I won't!' And then I do."
Taylor is thankful she has had bad experiences with boys in the past as they have fuelled her work. The American singer warned future partners that music is the number one love of her life, and everything else comes second.
"I wouldn't change the way that things have gone because I love getting to do this," Taylor explained. "And I live to write songs. That's what I live for. I love - just it's the same feeling I fell in love with when I was 12 years old, when I first got a guitar, learned how to play it and wrote my first song. I feel that rush every time I finish a new one. And that's why I love doing this."
