Taylor Swift is no rookie when it comes to performing at the Grammys, but that doesn't mean that prepping for Sunday's show isn't stressful, especially considering she's opening the whole shindig.
"Oh my god, it's Grammy week, it's so hectic. I have a lot to plan for with the opening performance and I'm just really hoping all the pieces come together this week. Because this is when it really gets really crazy, but it's all very exciting too," she told Ryan Seacrest about taking the stage first.
Grammy exec Ken Ehrlich teased that this will be a Taylor Swift you've never seen before when she takes the stage. And while Swift didn't get into specifics, she did note it's a performance that's been long in the works.
"You know what's interesting about these performances, like we presented this performance to the Grammy committee and we just said, 'This is what we'd like to do,' and they said 'OK, cool, you have a performance slot'," she explained. "And then like a week ago they call us and they're like 'Oh, by the way you're opening the show.' So it's not like they approach you and say listen 'Let's do a big opening performance thing,' it just kind of surprised me that I was gonna go first. But I'm really, really excited about it."
On top of her two nominations for her "Hunger Games" soundtrack track "Safe & Sound," Swift is also up for Record of the Year for her lead Red single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," which she teased is the tune she'll likely perform.
"I think you should perform the song that's nominated," she told Seacrest.
"Like, if you got a song nominated for Record of the Year, you might as well perform that. It's a big hint."
Once the Grammys wrap up, fans will have a new single to look forward to from Swift. She confirmed that "22" will be her next release from her chart-topping 2012 album.
"Oh, it was just the best [being 22]. I'm really stoked that that's going to be the next single," she said. "I wrote that about my friends, like finally I've got this amazing group of girlfriends and we tell each other everything, we're together all the time. And I think that was kind of the marker of me being 22, like having all these friends and there's all these question marks in your life, but the one thing that you have is that you have each other."
